PAST Walk-A-Thons: Get Your BottomsUP: Prevent Colon Cancer
On a cold, crisp morning − weather not often seen in Houston − more than 100s of people have gathered in March over the years to participate in Hope Through Grace’s 1st - 4th Walk-A-Thon in Tom Bass Park. Surrounded by trees and strolling alongside the lake, participants − young and old − had a blast as they received their “Circle of Accomplishment,” after each completed lap.
Special thanks goes to our Title Sponsor, Kelsey-Seybold Clinic and our other sponsors, Liberty Island Personal Care Homes and Continuum Healthcare, LLC. We are also grateful to the volunteers of University of Houston's Alpha Epsilon Delta, the National Health Pre-Medical Honor Society and The University of Houston Collegiate Cancer Council. We couldn't have done it without everyone's help! Although everyone had a great time, no one lost sight of why we were there. The purpose of the annual Walk-A-Thon is to raise funds so Hope Through Grace is able to provide education and funding for colonoscopies for the medically-underserved in our community. Our overall goal is to increase screening participation rates of insured as well as uninsured individuals so that the incidence of colorectal cancer will be greatly reduced. We welcome any and all donations to help us provide these life-saving services.
