Who is at Risk? Print E-mail

aamanwomansenior.jpgThis is a very simple question to answer.  Anyone over 50 years old (45 if you are African-American), or at any age if you have a family history of colorectal cancer.  Colorectal cancer is not confined to those age groups.  Younger people are susceptible as well.  The message here is to get screened.  Urge your loved ones to get screened.  Are we making this clear enough?  Get screened.

Silence is the Loudest Cause of Colorectal Cancer

aamalesilent.jpgColorectal cancer is a silent killer.  Polyps are asymptomatic, that is, there are no symptoms.  The early stages of colorectal cancer is asymptomatic as well.  Therefore, people think that everything is fine, and, in general don't discuss it.  What's worse, is that people won't discuss it.  They're often too embarrassed to bring up the subject.  Some prefer not to know if anything is wrong.  The reasons for not getting a colonoscopy screening are endless − and unfortunately, may be deadly.  After all, you're fine, right?  The grim truth is, if you wait until you have symptoms of colorectal cancer, it has probably advanced to a serious stage.

Hope Through Grace endeavors to educate people to help them break away from this potentially deadly mindset.  You now know the facts about colorectal cancer.  It's a silent killer.  We urge you to discuss the benefits of a colonoscopy screening with your doctor, your loved ones and friends.
